El Cholo Mexican Restaurant

Our dinner at the original El Cholo Mexican Restaurant on Saturday night was delightful! We arrived early, so the place wasn't too packed yet. Our party of 6 were seated right away in a large booth. After ordering two pitchers of margaritas and hand-mixed-at-the-table guacamole, our group settled in for some serious dining!
Four in the group ordered the world-famous green corn tamales--delish. I ordered a combo plate with the chile relleno (eggy, but tasty) and a crunchy rolled taco. The rice and beans were good with the obligatory orange cheese on my frijoles. Larry ordered the enchiladas Suizas--yummy.

Mary Jo's sister, Rosalie was in town from Northern California and she always likes to visit El Cholo when she comes to L.A. Natalie and Joe rounded out our group.

We have so many authentic styles of Mexican food available to us in Los Angeles, that I forget to frequent El Cholo more often. The food was appetizing, well-prepared and extremely nostalgic. Naturally, the ambiance and company were excellent.
