Then and Now

I really like going through websites with historical photographs of Los Angeles. The Department of Water and Power has an excellent collection! I found this "Then and Now" collage of the north-west corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills.

The shape of the building is the same, but there are leather goods inside instead of the famous Cobb Salad!
Even though we lived close by on South Bedford Drive, I don't remember dining at this branch of the Brown Derby. I vaguely remember visiting the Hollywood Brown Derby on Vine Street for some special occasion!
There were four Brown Derby restaurants in Los Angeles: The iconic, original Brown Derby in the Mid-Wilshire district of Los Angeles, across from the Ambassador Hotel; the Hollywood Brown Derby on Vine Street; the Los Feliz Derby on Los Feliz Boulevard across from Griffith Park and the Beverly Hills Brown Derby.

I wish that any of these Derbys were still in existence for Larry's upcoming birthday dinner. He loves fine dining in classic Los Angeles restaurants!
